The historian Herodotus told us about the elegance of ancient Egyptians were proud of their cotton , Linen clothes which adopted to hot weather and antiperspirant . women and men wore unique and wonderful clothes which we are still inspired by international fashion lines in our current era.
During Old and middle kingdom ,Egyptian women used to wear one shoulder ,transparent dresses that almost shows women's charms , that’s appeared on the walls of ancient temples ,statues which women wore dresses with double strap , and wore the (Shawl) on their shoulders like statues ( Nifirt , and her husband Ra- Hutub) Also it is clear in Queen's coffin ( Kaweet).
During the new kingdom wealth and luxury appeared on all the elements of Egyptian society such as funerary furniture ,necklaces and decorative tools So clothing developed and appeared new designs like dresses with short and wide sleeves ,put waist belt, also women wore wide necklaces made of colored natural stones .
During the late kingdom , women held powerful positions which was reflected in fashion designers who created a new designs like ( Al habik ) it is an open robe that was worn over clothes tied at the waist , decorated with feathers to be shown as wings.
The Egyptian women was and will be remain the main supporter of Egyptian society through all the ages , Also she is the source of happiness and inspiration for the society .
