Marsa Matrouh province is poised to build the first world-class medical city over 370 acres at USD350 million, according to governor General Alaa Abu Zeid.
"By building the city which will host U.S hopsitals working in multiple specialists, Egypt will be a destination for the Middle Easterns and North Africans who travel to the U.S for treatment," said he.
In his visit to Egypt, Gary Lang the chief executive of the world medical city hailed efforts exerted by governor of Matrouh city for facilitating building the city.
" The city, due to host hospitals in all specialties, including open heart surgeries as well as weigh loss, will have 600-bed capacity, then 6000-bed capacity later on, out-patient clinics, as it will be established on a partnership basis between U.S and UAE firms under the U.S administration and supervision," Lang said.
Numbers of medical tourism seekers visiting Egypt are expected to jump by 35%, as they will enjoy medical services with costs far less by 65% than those of the U.S peers, noted Lang, adding that Egyptian doctors will work there.
The Egyptian government, due to get 10% of the profits per year under the signed contracts, is advised to expedite licensing the project next to which other cities specialized in entertainment, education, and tourism are due to be built.
" With Egypt lacking qualified nursery staff, a university will be established in the span of 3 to 5 years in order to provide the city with specialists in all health and medical assisting services."
