An Online Sinai Manuscript for the Oldest Copy of the Scripture

An Online Sinai Manuscript for the Oldest Copy of the Scripture

The 800 pages Oldest Copy of the Scripture that dates back to the fourth century was published on the Internet.
A number of institutions in Germany, Russia, Egypt and America worked on this ancient manuscript entitled the Sinai Manuscript and written in Greek on a certain kind of vegetal paper.
Pictures of more than half of the Sinai manuscript, found in one of the Sinai monasteries, are now accessible on the website www.codexsinaiticus.org. Experts said that this manuscript as deemed an outlook on the development of Christianity in an early time.
On the other hand, the British researcher and head of the western manuscripts at the British library prof. Scot Mesenteric stated that the Sinai manuscript is one of the world greatest written treasures adding that it opens the way for search opportunities.
He further mentioned that the manuscript dating back to 1600 years ago is a direct strong evidence for how the Scripture was transferred from one generation to another.
The British searcher pointed out that the original manuscript consists of 1460 pages. Each page is 40cm long and 35cm wide.
On the occasion of publishing the manuscript on the Internet, the British library holds an exhibition including a collection of historical artifacts and the associated topics.
Sinai Manuscript was unveiled in one of the Sinai Peninsula monasteries in Egypt in 1844.It was shared by Britain, Germany, Russia and Egypt. The manuscript is thought to remain intact all those years thanks to the desert air that protected it against damage as well as the Christian convent was safe against any dangers.
